NGC and PMG grading tiers explained

It is sometimes difficult to know which tier a coin belongs in. It is made of gold, so it goes in the Gold tier? Not always. A modern gold coin is graded more cheaply in the Modern tier, and a gold coin worth over £4,000 needs to go in the Express tier. The submission system on our grading site guides you and picks the right tier for you, because it knows all the rules and applies them.

NGC coin grading tiers

The price of coin grading varies quite considerably with the value of the coin and the tier selected. It is generally better to submit at least three or four coins at the same time, to get the slight economy of scale this brings.

The value limit is the most a coin in that tier may be worth. Don't worry: the submission system will guide you to the right tier.
