Most regular mortals have “economy” coins to grade
There is no shame in having “economy” coins in your collection. Some of the most beautiful coins we have submitted have been in the “economy” tier. If your coin has an approximate value of less than £250 then it can qualify for special value grading at NGC. If you are in doubt as to whether your coins qualify then have a chat and we will advise on whether we can sneak them into a value/economy tier for you.
1831 Maundy as with many other Maundy years is notorious for grading companies not knowing if its proof or not proof. PCGS often hedge with PL but this proof coin has been graded MS62 by NGC
Lots of the most interesting pre-decimal coins are value or economy. Many collectors love this area of the market and pick the best coins to grade.
An example of a coin that is right at the upper border of economy. Some of the time coins like this will be elevated to Standard.
I love it when beautiful toned coins come in for submission to NGC. This is a great example.
This is a coin I found at a local auction. It did cost £350 to me but it was entered in the economy tier and got a lovely numeric grade so very pleased
Just one example of a high quality beauty that is also economic to buy. What a wonderful 1911 proof Florin
